Out of Province Inspections

Sherwood Motorcars offers Out of Province Inspections to ensure your Luxury, Exotic, Domestic, Import, or Classic vehicle meets the safety and vehicle equipment standards. Our highly qualified red seal journeyman technicians will thoroughly inspect all aspects of your vehicle as per OPI Transportation Laws. Sherwood Motorcars has the ability to do OPI on all makes and models, including Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Aston Martin.

When is an Out Of Province Inspection Required?

OPI’s are required if you are moving to Alberta, or live in Alberta but own a vehicle that was last registered in a different province. Once your vehicle passes the inspection, you have 14 days to get the vehicle registered in Alberta.

What does an Out of Province Inspection include?

Our red seal journeyman technicians will carefully perform a full mechanical inspection of your vehicle top to bottom including, electrical systems, fuel and exhaust systems, engine controls, powertrain & driveline, steering, suspension, tires and wheels, all glass, wipers, heating and cooling, and all safety systems.

What happens if your vehicle does not pass the inspection?

In the case that your vehicle does not pass the OPI, you will have ten days to complete the repairs. Once the vehicle has been inspected and is in need of repairs, the Sherwood Motorcars team will provide you a quote of the items of concern.

If the repairs are not completed within a 10 day window, a new request is required from Alberta Registries.
